Module Syllabus Overview
This module covers everything related Constitutional law. You will learn about the history of the Constitution, how the Constitution is the blueprint for how South Africa is run, how the concept of separation of powers operates, what the branches of government are and how they relate to each other, how the Constitution supports democracy, and how you as a citizen is able to participate in the running of the country and support its hard won democracy.
This module has a written exam as well as two assessments. The first assignment is usually a written one, with the second one being a multiple choice (MCQ) assessment. The two assessments combined have a marking weight of 20% and the exam carries 80% of the marks.
This module is a challenging module and it is important not to underestimate the amount of work that is needed! It is vital that you spend as much time as you can on this module, as it is a prerequisite for third and fourth year modules.
This module is at the NQF 6 level and is worth 12 credits.
