Module Syllabus Overview
The module covers how law is interpreted as well as the different theories behind interpretation. You will learn the process of how law is interpreted, what happens when different laws overlap on the same issue, and how laws are both implemented and repealed.
This module has a multiple choice (MCQ) exam as well as two assessments. The two assessments combined have a marking weight of 20% and the exam carries 80% of the marks.
This module is at the NQF 6 level and is worth 12 credits.

- How legislation is interpreted
- Different interpretation theories
- Peremptory provisions
- Directory provisions
- Constitutional interpretation
- Amendment of legislation
- Repeal of legislation
